There are three main types of solar power systems, depending on how they connect to the grid and whether they use batteries. On-Grid Solar System: This system is connected to the electricity grid and helps reduce your electricity bills through net metering. It does not provide backup during power outages but is the most cost-effective option for homes and businesses. Off-Grid Solar System: This system works independently from the electricity grid and uses batteries to store electricity. It is mainly used in locations where grid power is not available or unreliable. Hybrid Solar System: A hybrid system combines solar panels, batteries, and grid connection. It can store excess solar energy in batteries and also export power to the grid, providing backup power during outages while still reducing electricity bills.
Under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, you can get ₹30,000 for 1 kW, ₹60,000 for 2 kW, and ₹78,000 for 3 kW and above.
For residential rooftop systems (1–5 kW), installation is usually completed in less than 3 days, while the full process including survey, approvals, and ESCOM synchronization may take a little longer. For RWA or apartment projects, the timeline depends on the plant capacity and typically takes up to 15 days. For commercial and industrial solar projects, the installation duration varies based on system size and site conditions, usually ranging from 25 to 90 days.
